Aristotle was born in 384 BC in Stagira (Macedonia). He happened to be born into a family with noble origins. The father of Aristotle was a hereditary physician, served at the Royal court as a physician, and from him the son learned the basics of the philosophy and art of healing. After thirty years of wandering Aristotle returned to Athens and founded his own school there. In the year 347 BC at the age of 37 years Aristotle married with a foster daughter of his close friend. Aristotle and his wife had only one daughter.

Immersed in the world of science Aristotle was very far from politics, but in 323 BC, after the death of Alexander the Great, anti-Macedonian repression swept the country and the clouds gathered above the philosopher.
